Regeneratively Raised Beef in Guernsey
Our beef comes from cattle raised as part of a regenerative grazing system designed to restore soil health, strengthen pasture diversity and improve local food resilience.
This is grass-based, land-led production.
All of our beef is available through our farm shop in Guernsey.
How We Raise Our Cattle
Cattle are not separate from the land. When managed well, they are part of its renewal.
We use rotational grazing, moving animals regularly across pasture so that grass is never overgrazed and has time to recover. This rest period allows plants to regrow stronger, deepen their roots and push carbon into the soil. Over time, this builds organic matter, improves soil structure and increases water retention.
As the cattle move, they fertilise the land naturally. Their grazing stimulates plant growth rather than exhausting it. The result is pasture that becomes more resilient year by year.
Our animals live outdoors on grass, expressing natural behaviours in a low-stress environment. Healthy land supports healthy animals, and the reverse is also true.
Why Regenerative Grazing Matters
Grasslands evolved with grazing animals. When grazing is extractive and poorly managed, soil degrades. When grazing is intentional and carefully timed, soil function improves.
On a small island like Guernsey, this matters. We have limited land and increasing pressure on food supply. Keeping nutrients cycling locally, reducing reliance on imported feed and building long-term soil fertility are essential if we want resilience.
Cattle convert grass, which humans cannot digest, into highly bioavailable protein and essential nutrients. When integrated into a regenerative system, they help close nutrient loops rather than widen them.
This is not industrial production. It is ecological management.
The Nutritional Value of Grass-Fed Beef
Beef is one of the most nutrient-dense whole foods available.
Grass-fed systems typically produce beef with a different fatty acid profile to grain-fed systems, including higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids. It is also a rich source of bioavailable iron, vitamin B12, zinc and fat-soluble vitamins.
The nutritional quality of beef reflects the health of the pasture it comes from. Mineral-rich soils support diverse grasses and herbs. Those plants feed the animals. That nutrition then moves through the system.
Available Through The Farm Shop
All of our beef will be sold through our farm shop in Guernsey.
Buying local regenerative beef supports land stewardship, farmer welfare and community health. It keeps value circulating within the island and strengthens our long-term food resilience.
